Meera bai also known as mira bai born in 1498 in kudki, spent her childhood in merta, at the age of 18 got married to bhoj raj crown prince of mewar, and died in 1521 in due to battle wounds with his father. After continued persecutions from bhoj raj’s family she went to vrindavan after consulting with goswami tulsidas.
At the night of janmashtami she left her body in 1547 with his last word to lord krishna that “you are calling me ,i a, coming my lord”.
1. about meera bai family.
Mira bai was a part of royal rajput family, spent her childhood in merta( nagaur district of rajasthan).Mira bai’s father name was ratan singh rajput (king of merta) and mother name was Veer Kumari.
Meera bai unwillingly had to marry bhoj raj the crown prince of mewar.
Jaimal Meratia was half-brother of Meera bai.
2.mirabai bhakti movement
After leaving her family, she went to Vrindavan known as a holy place for devotees of krishna and joined a religious community. From here Meera bai’s contribution in the bhakti movement takes place. She composed and wrote thousands of songs ,in which 150 -200 accepted by scholars and 800 - 1100 have been attributed. Meera bai never took credits as in the sense of selflessness. she first initiated a mode of singing songs, a raga. She always in her songs poems expresses devotee and love to krishna, almost as a husband. she speaks about both joy and pain of love. Meera bai wrote poems and songs in rajasthani and braj bhasa language which was translated in hindi , gujarati etc
